New Ohio Band – Straightfork

A new group in Ohio, with kentucky roots running deep… Straightfork is a group of seasoned musicians and singers, who share the same vision and passion for the music. Their goal is to push the contemporary bluegrass style without sacrificing their strong traditional roots. Each member brings a little something different to the sound and collectively function as a single unit. They are currently booking for the 2008 season and can’t wait to be a part of your festival, concert or other event. Look for their debut CD coming out in early 2008.

Sever Flooding in Western Iowa – Bluegrassers to Help!

In May of this year, terrible flooding in May broke a levee on the Missouri River, flooding a valley with 6 feet of water! Many families were not covered with flood insurance and lost a great deal.

Bob Everhart, the old-time country and bluegrass promoter that does his annual festival in Missouri Valley, has arranged to do a benefit bluegrass show to help these people at the old Farm Museum in Missouri Valley, Iowa on August 25-26th, 2007. We have learned that the Michigan band, Greensky Bluegrass is playing 3 times at the world famous Telluride Bluegrass Festival (Mainstage, NightGrass and Elks Park) as they won 1st place in the Band Competition last year.

I’m not sure how to word this one… but the band Wildfire is announcing that they have a new, young dobro player in their band, however, it’s a secret. (Because of previous contractual obligations, we can not know WHOM this new dobro fellow is.) Any guesses? (g)
